Admin/Social Media Assistant
Part Time, Remote

About Us
Camp Mustelid is a queer-run small business based out of Portland, Maine, with fulfillment based in Gainesville, Florida. I (Bird! Hi!) run the main operations myself alongside my freelance illustration work. As both of those things are growing to demand more of my attention, I’m looking to add a member to our team to help keep things organized and flowing smoothly while we continue to grow as a shop! About the position
This will be our first time hiring outside help that isn’t package fulfillment. I think it’s important to be honest about this and lay out the expectation that we will be working together to create the right role. We’re most importantly looking for someone who can help with the growth of our social media and shop in general. We are lacking the most in video content (Reels & TikToks), so that’s something we’d like to prioritize. Overall, we’re looking for someone who can help us keep organized with shop updates, help manage our social media presence, and schedule markets moving forward. This is a 3-month-long contract position with opportunities for extension based on performance/need.
Responsibilities
Develop materials for ads and posts for Camp Mustelid’s social media accounts. (Instagram, TikTok, etc)
Create and edit video content that reflects Camp Mustelid’s values, voice, and theming.
Provide administrative input for Camp Mustelid alongside Bird (shop owner) and Neltie (fulfillment and shop manager).
Reach out to potential and current wholesalers that would be a good fit for Camp Mustelid to promote new products and collaborations.
Communicate with Bird & Neltie via Slack to keep up with Camp Mustelid’s day-to-day.
These responsibilities may change as we figure out what this position will encompass in terms of scope and how it fits into our routine! We will work with you to figure out what best fits your skill set and availability for this work.
Qualifications
Based in the United States
Experience managing social media for a brand, organization, or creator.
Someone friendly, organized, self-directed, and flexible.
Great writing skills (Please note Camp Mustelid is NOT interested in using any form of AI writing or imagery).
A good understanding of internet trends and culture.
Experience creating image and video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts, etc).
Proficiency with related programs such as Photoshop, Procreate, video editing software, etc. We realize folks use a lot of different programs these days, so just let us know what you’re most comfortable using!
Bonus Qualifications
Familiarity with Shopify.
General knowledge of nature and nature-related things.
Photography or videography experience.
Comfortable with being on camera/appearing in content for Camp Mustelid.
Ability to help with tabling at local events for additional compensation!
Compensation
$500 per month or 5% of gross monthly shop income (Average over the last 4 months would be $1,700 a month), whichever is higher. Compensation is negotiable! This position is intended to be part-time, but we want to properly compensate for the workload, so we can revisit this as things progress.
Time Commitment
Starting at 5-10 hours a week. As we sort out what this position will look like, we can communicate to find what hours fit this role and your workflow best!
Start Date
Start date is flexible, but we are aiming to find someone by the beginning of November 2026
